2022.01.18 10:51 AcornFinder Why do people hate micro transactions?
Very, very often I'll see and hear people talking about how microtransactions are bad in several ways and so many people wish they could just spend money on a game and that's that.
Quite often the most successful games are ones that are entirely free to play but offer cosmetics as their source of income since we aren't paying for the game.
Not every micro transaction is pay2win and I'm curious how the guise of "microtrans is bad" begun and how people can genuinely prefer to pay money on something when they could just not.
You can be a terrible, horrible company and make things locked behind a pay wall that legimately give you a clear cut advantage, but that has absolutely nothing to do with micro transactions being bad. It's the company essentially stating "we just don't care about the integrity of the game or its players" Pre-orders are an entirely different evil but that's not what I'm focused on. So, why?

2022.01.18 10:51 mrprocrasturbate Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday
Today I still miss you. I want to reach out so badly it hurts . My soul Is screaming and clawing at the door to escape. I've never not had you since the day I did and it's destroying me.
Tomorrow... Tomorrow it will officially be 1 month no contact. I wonder if you even know... I miss you. We broke each other better then any before us. Your still my person my heart still calls your name. I hope your not stuck in limbo like I am frozen with this feelings.
Yesterday I tried to bargain and find any reason to come seen you or message you because it's not right to go this long... I wish you'd reach out but I get the feeling you want... is there's nothing that can fix the damage we've done?

2022.01.18 10:51 Rosey991 AITA for wanting to keep a distance[F19] with my mom [F 37] when I move out?
This is going to be a long story, I apologize. My Mom is 37, I am 19, my mothers bf is I think 27 and my brother is 11.
My mom had me at a young age which probably impacted her teen years. She had a very abusive home, and they were extremely poor. Alcoholism on the fathers part, barely any food, grandma resorted to physical violence to the extreme. They were 4 kids.
To me, I have or well had a father. When I was 9, he sold me to my mom. I grew up with my grandparents till the age of 9, since my mother was working overseas due to money issues. My grandma (and she thankfully remarried) grandpa raised me with love and no physical punishments. My father however he forced me a lot of harsh punishments physically.
We moved to another country at the age of 9, my mother had another boyfriend who she married - step father. He had cancer. From when I was 11 to around maybe 13 he sexually physically mentally and verbally abused me. When I told my mom , she said it was an accident despite it happening in front of her. When he died, and I told my aunt who swore not to tell anyone, told my mom, when we got into a small argument she said I must have lied for attention.
Then, I became retracted. I closed myself in my bedroom, reading, playing games and online friends which I have for 7 years or I would’ve attempted suicide. And another friend who is quite logical and helps me sometimes in figuring out wether I’m at fault.
Don’t get me wrong, I was NOT the best child. I often rebelled, etc. I wanted to move out when I was 18, which mom said she’d help me but never did. I used to work internship for 200€ a month which I always gave or helped her if she needed it. Even my 18th bday money a lot was taken from her.
She denied me therapy, because she said my sex drive is proof that I was not traumatized.
She is not allowing me to work or even part time, only to study. I want to avoid getting kicked out.
I think my mother does love me, she pays for things I sometimes want. Certain food mostly, no. Don’t have an allowance, but for example she said if I ever wanted to go to medical school she’d pay it off for me. She always has money for my future.
I have tried communicating with her properly but she always says she’s the mother so she’s right. Even though she often verbally abused me or belittled me , where I’m from this isn’t abuse or well abuse doesn’t exist.
Would I be the asshole if I distanced myself when I manage to move out?
English is my third language, I apologize in advance.
TLDR; AITA if I put distance between mom and I when I manage to move out despite her showing signs she loves me but I mentally can not keep up?

2022.01.18 10:51 Justanotherteenager9 Is a pulling sensation during meditation a beginner thing?
I have really troubling thoughts constantly that have sent me into a severe month long depression. I started meditation and regaining my spirituality last week and seemingly every time I meditate I either get so frustrated with my loss of focus that I start crying or I feel like all my muscles tense up involuntarily and I feel like I'm getting pulled apart. I know I can't force this kind of thing but being in a strange kind of physical agony every time is a little more than alarming to me. Any thoughts?

2022.01.18 10:51 CaspianX2 EQI for Nintendo Switch - Review
EQI Genre: First-Person Platformer
EQI, released on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2021, is a First-Person Platformer with elements of Puzzle-Platform games. Players must navigate to an exit in each level, usually by manipulating the level itself, which rotates at 90-degree angles around a green laser beam.
The presentation here is pretty basic, but works well enough for the gameplay, featuring simple 3D visuals that are largely in geometric shapes depicting an abstract environment. This is backed by an electronic soundtrack that works well for the game. Without being especially memorable.
The main “hook” to EQI is its core mechanic - players can rotate the entire world 90 degrees in either direction by pressing ZL or ZR, and must work their way to the exit in each level using this. At times, players will have to rush through a gauntlet as the walls close in on them, at times they’ll have to solve a spatial puzzle, at times they’ll have to use the motion of the spinning world to create momentum they’ll need to cross a gap, and there are some levels that use a combination of these elements. When at its best, this game feels uniquely clever in how this element works, and at its very best the player feels clever too, once they solve a tough puzzle.
There are a few problems here though. Firstly, even when running, the game’s movement speed feels sluggish. Also, it’s not always easy to tell how everything is moving in relation with each other, and I feel like more environmental detail, perhaps even some lighting or atmospheric effects, might help this matter. Certainly at the game’s size of 1.229GB it could have managed a bit more to make its visuals easier to parse when things get moving.
Also, this is a pretty short game, less than an hour or two long depending on how long you get stuck on the game’s levels. However, this is somewhat more forgivable as the price tag is only $5. Still, I can’t help but feel like this game only just touches on its core concept, and could have done a lot more with it.
Still, if you’re looking for a fun, puzzling First-Person Platformer for under $5, EQI is a pretty decent buy. It certainly has areas that could do with improvement, and it really feels like it could have been expanded into a bigger game, but for its price, it’s an enjoyable take on the genre.
tl;dr – EQI is a First-Person Platformer where players spin the entire level around a laser, and must use this to reach the exit. This game makes some good use of its concept, and although it feels a bit limited, it’s also under $5 so it’s hard to complain too much. While it definitely has its rough edges, this is still a decent game that should be entertaining while it lasts.
